Here we are. It is the
day before the 5-day Live Below the Line challenge. I'm here
enjoying some Grolsch and working out the details of my daily menu.
Of course, I will be the
first one to admit that this is not the life of those that I am
trying to bring attention to. Still, the challenge is really about
raising awareness. One of the biggest problems in getting support is
getting people to pay attention. There is so much going on and so
many issues, concerns, and demands that attract our attention. It
almost impossible to attend to anything with the attention that it
deserves. I am not foolish enough to think that thousands or even
hundreds will come here to read this. My goal is to catch attention
of just a few people who, for their own reasons, fell into this blog
site and then tried to read it. Financial support would be great
(and please do) but I wasn't expecting much. At the same time, I am
very honest in saying that feeding the growing population in our
world is probably the most important challenge that we face.
Nonetheless, in working
through my daily menu, it seems that that rice, cabbage, beans or
chick peas, chicken wieners, and a fortunate deal on eggs will allow
me to form the base of my diet for the next five days. There will
also be some opportunities to add some carrot, broccoli, rutabaga
(turnip) and onions. Clearly, this will not be a week of fine
dining. As the five days unfold, I will share with you what my days
diet ended up being.
Now to watch the movie, Gandhi, to get my head right.......
